Given Google\u2019s influence and impact, it\u2019s worth watching. But writer and educator Phil Hill shares his opinion that it\u2019s too early to know if Google\u2019s foray into the world of LMS will be a game changer. <\/p>\n<p>\nYou can see Google\u2019s Classroom features and functionality, as well as read Hill\u2019s observations <a href=\"http:\/\/mfeldstein.com\/google-classroom-wont-affect-institutional-lms-market-yet\/\">here.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOf interest is Hill\u2019s use of Everett Roger\u2019s \u201cDiffusion of Innovation\u201d model (see below). So, where do we you plot your school when in comes to innovation in teaching through instructional technology? Here\u2019s my typical challenge to some schools during consultations: \u201cSchools who fall under the category of \u201ccustomers who want solutions and convenience,\u201d are not characterized by \u201cimagination and resilience.\u201d That\u2019s reserved for the innovators and early adopters.\u201d <b>Click on image to enlarge.<\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/grace-ed.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/lagchart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/grace-ed.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/lagchart-300x114.jpg\" alt=\"lagchart\" width=\"300\" height=\"114\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2991\" srcset=\"http:\/\/grace-ed.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/lagchart-300x114.jpg 300w, http:\/\/grace-ed.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/lagchart.jpg 944w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile technology is never a silver bullet for addressing the challenges of the complex and messy work of teaching and learning, I find that an educational organization\u2019s attitude and perspective toward the embrace of \u201cnew\u201d and emerging technology is a good indicator of how adaptive it is\u2014and, a rather unscientific indicator of its ability to succeed in the marketplace of the business of education.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>Israel Galindo<\/b> is Associate Dean, Lifelong Learning at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctsnet.edu\/lifelong-learning\">Columbia Theological Seminary<\/a>. Formerly he was Dean at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
